New Show Dates: February 12 - March 20
Have you done work that displays holes or knots or a contemporary interpretation of what we know as a sheer or see through texture? This show centers on how Lace and new concepts of open worked fabric, can be relevant to today's fiber arts scene. "Lace" can be created from a variety of fibers, by felting, weaving, knitting or crocheting fibers or yarns into a fabric with holes. Likewise Lace can be created by knotting or twisting thread into fabric, such as bobbin lace or the art of Chinese knotting. We are seeking innovative examples or modern uses of this fiber reality in whatever artistic form you would like to provide, whether it be clothing, large screens, accessories, home décor, or simple expressions of your style.
Entry fee, February 7-8 check in. Details here

Silks of Laos
|
|
Silks of Laosprovides sustainable income for village silk weavers in northern Laos, South-East Asia. We offer Weaving Scholarships to the young Lao weavers, with training that equips them with the skills needed to participate in the Fair-trade projects we support in northern Laos.
Through teaching these weavers the intricate traditional motifs, handed down from their grandmothers, we are preserving the rich cultural heritage of Lao weavings.
The profits from the sales of these silk textiles returns to the village weavers through PhonTong Weaving Co-op. By earning an income through weaving, these young weavers will not be tempted by the monetary offers and lies of ruthless sex traffickers in these rural areas.
