Beginning Shuttle Tatting
with Trudy Scholten
Tatting is a delicate edging or decorative embellishment made by knots and threads. Learn this unique traditional method of making lace. Once you have learned the basic two stitches we will make a lovely tatted neclace. Earrings are another fun possibility to make on your own after class.
Kit fee: $6 paid to instructor, includes tatting shuttle, thread, beads, and necklace chain. Please bring sewing needles and needlenose pliers if you have them.

Beginning Bobbin Lace

Before it was made by machine, lace was made by hand. One traditional method of making lace is bobbin lace, a method of weaving threads in intricate patterns (and when you really get into it---beautiful collector bobbins If you’ve seen this in action, you know it can appear intimidating. Don’t let looks fool you! Start with the basics, and build in small steps to discover that you can do this!
Kit fee: $15 includes most supplies needed. Please bring sewing needles, scissors, and a small crochet hook (0.6 mm or smaller) if you have it.

You can make a beautie (some would call her/him/it a doll) using silks, cotton stuffing, threads, beads, buttons, shells, sequins and any other fabulous thing. Techniques include bead and sequin embroidery, brick stitch, igolochkoy (Russian needle punch), appliqué, French knots, and other mischief’s. This may be one of the best mediums ever. Your reward is your very own beautie to treasure forever.

Remaking Sweaters Beginners
with Donna Christopher
Create a new look for your old sweater by changing the design! Come see a collection of redesigned sweaters and explore style and design ideas. Learn some quick and easy tips on how to visualize your design options and cut up your old sweaters or ones from a thrift store and go home wearing a new favorite sweater! As an example, you can turn a pullover or turtleneck sweater into a versatile cardigan, add panels, cut off cowls, lengthen or shorten sweaters or sleeves, or add some interesting fabric, trim, buttons, or giant snaps to update your sweater. (This is not a class on how to felt sweaters – however, you can bring felted sweaters to work with.)

Beaded Buttons

Beads are a fun and versatile way to jazz up your buttons and your designs. In this class you will begin the journey of learning basic techniques for hand sewing beads to buttons. A kit will be provided (for an additional fee) containing all of the supplies needed to complete your very own button – and you will finish it in class!

Felted Jewelry

Learn how to work with wool rovings to make felted wool jewelry. Several techniques will be explored for making bracelets and necklaces. Materials will be available to make a bracelet during class.

Come back for more creativity, design ideas and another fun filled workshop! This class is for anyone who has taken the “Remaking Sweaters – Beginner Workshop”. We will have a show and tell segment so we can see everyone’s creation.

Remaking Tees
with Jackie Scott
Re-style or re-invent yourself and a favorite tee shirt! Or take a fav thrift store treasure and transform it into something unique and fabulous. It’s fun to be “green” and re-cycle; a small investment can bring big rewards. We’ll discuss design options and visualize what styles will look best on your figure. By cutting and manipulating the fabric into tucks, ruffles, shirring draping or adding elastic, coordinating fabric or trims you’ll create something wonderful and totally “you”.

Chenille Scarves

Use a rayon batik in your favorite colors to make a wonderfully soft chenille scarf. Learn the techniques to create the texture of this cozy two-sided scarf. Easy and quick as you stitch and slash in class, then wash and dry at home. Marvel at the transformation! Great gift idea.

Fashion Anatomy

This is a seminar and show and tell defining desired Fashion Design details and how to execute them. For beginners to get an overview of what it’s all about or for those who want to get more involved in re-styling vintage or gently used/recycled clothes. Students will bring several pieces they want help with or garments they love and we’ll discuss the details of that design and what makes it so appealing to you. Learn clues and the difference between quality and not so good quality, and some introductory info on fibers and fabrics, too. 2 hours

Learn this intriguingly beautiful, and slightly mysterious, method of blending raw wool fiber with sheer silk fabric, to create a sensual and artistic texture of color and pattern. In class you will make a yummy scarf, meshing silk gauze and merino wool roving. Anne will teach various techniques using water and of all things....solar pool cover! Be amazed and proud to create this luxurious fiber accessory.
Materials Fee: $15.00. Fee covers all materials, including soap and use of solar pool cover. You Need to Bring: Apron, paper & pencil for taking notes. This is feltmaking, so wear old clothes you won’t mind getting wet!$35 TAC members, $50 non-members
Needle Felting
with Rochelle Jay
Needefelting involves using a needle to connect loose fiber roving to the cloth (as opposed to wet felting.) There are a few ways to do it and Rochelle loves to share her passion for this creative technique. It is fun and easy to create beautiful motifs in lots of colors on many types of fabrics and surfaces.

Felted Bags and Purses
with Bonnie Kramer
Learn the basics of knitting and felting handbags, totes and purses. Come away from class with a completed small project and a great, simple pattern to make more purses. The class will be really fun and creative, inspiring you to make lots and lots of bags for all occasions. Instructor, Bonnie Kramer of Bella Bags, has many years of experience in knitting and felting handbags and will share her tips and suggestions to make this class a worthwhile investment. Beginning knitters are welcome.

"Let's Get Stoned" Fabric Painting Class

I am constantly asked about the "stone" (and sky) fabric that I use in my Irish quilts. There just isn't any commercial fabric out in the market to buy that results in the types of colors and textures that many quilters are looking for. In this two-day hands-on class we will learn (some rather surprising) techniques for using Seta color paints to create your own uniquely textured fabrics customized for use in your own creations.
