New Release: TACTILE CELEBRATES TEXTURE IN NEW WEARABLE ARTSHOW

More than 25 FIBER ARTIST FROM ALL OVER THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION EXHIBIT THEIR ONE-OF-A-KIND WEARABLE ART PIECES

DENVER, COLORADO -- Elda Kohls will be honored at TACtile's newest exhibit "Inspirational Effects of Texture in Wearable Art" May 8th through July 11th in Tamarac Square. She will be among 28 other fiber artists displaying their Wearable Art garments and accessories from around the Rocky Mountain region. The exhibit will include a showcase of wearable pieces from fiber artists using a wide variety of textile and fiber techniques from all over the world.
 "Inspirational Effects in Wearable Art"
is a wonderful variety of original pieces from fiber artists using techniques they have become expert at executing. Couture fashion designers have adapted many of these techniques for their recent runway shows. Each showpiece is a truly unique, beautifully hand crafted work of art.
The show will focus on the diversity of textures that can be produced, such as wet felting, silk velvet painting, handwoven textiles, embellishments, embroideries and more. The materials will vary from silk to wool to rayons and beautiful cottons. They have been altered through a variety of methods to create exceptional textures.
This year's artist of honor is Elda Kohls. Elda has experience working with a variety of fibers, including leather and silk. Her pieces have been shown in numerous galleries and have received many honors. Elda is a local powerhouse for her fiber techniques including weaving, dying, silk painting, quilting, leatherwork, and stenciling. She has shared her wealth of expertise with a large number of students that treasure her dedication to them and to her art. She is especially known for her hand created stencils which will be for sale at the TACtile gallery.
TACtile is a non-profit organization formed in July of 2007 to promote fiber arts as a living art form and to support the creativity of fiber artistry. The center works with various fiber guilds in the Rocky Mountains, including contemporary quilters, silk dyers, weavers, beaders, lace makers, dressmakers and more to promote their work and create a network of textile enthusiasts. TACtile provides a forum for fiber artists to display their craft and to teach others. The center is a gallery and workspace that offers a variety of classes for those exploring the fiber arts.

Re-style or re-invent a favorite tee shirt and yourself! Or take a fave thrift store treasure and transform it into something unique and fabulous. It's fun to be "green" and re-cycle. We'll discuss design options and visualize what styles will look best on your figure. By cutting and manipulating the fabric into tucks, ruffles, shirring draping or adding elastic, coordinating fabric or trims you'll create something wonderful and totally "you".
Bring your own ideas to class or get inspired by the many pictures and samples in class. Wear an outfit that you can pop the tee over for fitting.
